New FormConnect Feature: Use Checkboxes in Calculations!

We’ve added a powerful new feature to both FormConnect Pro and FormConnect Pro Plus that significantly enhances how you track and calculate data: the ability to use checkboxes in a calculation.

This simple yet effective enhancement allows you to easily tally items, attendees, or completed tasks directly within your forms. Instead of manually counting checks, you can now automate the process to get instant, accurate results.

How It Works: Counting Checks

In FormConnect, each checkbox can now be assigned a numeric value—typically 1 (or another desired value) when checked, and 0 when unchecked.

When you create a calculation field, you simply include the checkbox fields you want to count in your formula. The app then automatically sums the values of all checked boxes, giving you an immediate total.

Real-World Applications

This feature is incredibly useful for several common scenarios:

  • Attendance Tracking: Creating a class or team roster and placing a checkmark next to each person present. The calculation field instantly displays the total number of attendees.
  • Inventory and Supplies: Tallying how many items were loaded onto a truck or used on a job site. Checking off each item in a list provides a running total of supplies.
  • Inspections and Audits: Counting the number of completed tasks or passing items during an inspection. A quick count reveals the completion rate.
  • Simple Quoting: Assigning a value to optional services (e.g., $50 for ‘Expedited Shipping’). Checking the box automatically adds the value to the final price.

By integrating checkboxes into calculations, FormConnect Pro and Pro Plus streamline data entry, eliminate manual counting errors, and provide crucial summary data right where you need it.
